Guide for GooRoos
- Could you be a GooRoo?
- You need to understand your sport inside out and be able to teach! You will also need some ability to edit a movie using one of the video editing packages available, consumer or professional. If you are not sure about this please go to editing guide for information on what video editing software is available and what it can do. You can see other GooRoos' work on the site.
- What do I need to do to sign up?
- Firstly read our terms and conditions, then Register and fill in the online form. This must include a your price and what languages you can work in.
- Once you have done this you will have a GooRoo public page which you can insert information about yourself, upload a picture and 3 sample movies. You can also link to your website, MySpace/Facebook page or movies you have posted on sites like You Tube. No offensive images or language should be used on your page, you know the drill.
- How do I get customers?
- To help you get customers you should upload (not just link to) at least one sample of your work.
- The sample of your work should be, if possible, in the standard YoorGooRoo format, i.e. a pupil tells the camera that they can't do something, followed by a clip of them trying to do it. You should then say what's wrong, have a clip of you doing it correctly and have a discussion about what the pupil should change to try and do it correctly. This clip should be a few minutes long and be of good quality but less than 10mb.
- Can I mention my sponsors?
- It is absolutely fine to mention your sponsors. If you are lucky enough to have any, please upload the logos on your GooRoo page.
- We are in the process of creating a "library" of sponsors logos.
- How does it work?
- Users browse the site and if they like the look of you and your price they can pay and upload a video for you to analyse. You must respond within the quoted time, if you respond late you may not get paid.
- You must produce a clear and helpful answer. If you do not, the user can reject your clip; however they must have good grounds for doing so, and YoorGooRoo.com has the final say in whether the video is good enough and whether you get paid.
-
You
must offer personalised advise to the customer. You can accompany this by
editing the video they supplied you with highlighting where they are going
wrong and even some text with a further explanation. You should also include a
video of you demonstrating how to do the maneuver correctly. This can be
taken from a pool of videos you have created and you can edit these to highlight how
to get the move right.
- How do I get paid?
- You will be paid at the end of the month following the month in which you upload your answer minus our percentage; see our price guide in the FAQs below.
- If amount due to you is less than $10 then the amount will be carried forward until the amount due is more than $10
- You must provide a Paypal account (or bank account in the UK only) for us to deposit your cash. If you don't have a Paypal account you can get one here.
- The customer needs to have been happy with your video answer for you to get paid. If there are obvious technical faults you might not get paid. We pay at end of the month following your upload of the video answer, as long as the amount owed is greater than $10. If it is less the payment will be ‘rolled over” until the amount owed to you exceeds $10.
- What price should I charge?
- That’s up to you! We suggest you start low, get customers and experience, build your rating and gradually increase your prices.
- It takes me ages to edit a video.
- Don’t worry, the more you do the faster you will get. Try and build a library of clips that you can use and slot into your videos.
- I don’t know what editing software to use.
- See our tips section for info on what the various applications can do.
- What do I earn from each transaction?
- Charges are: If your fee is up to $20 you keep 64%.
If your fee is between $20.01 and $40.00 you keep 72%.
If your fee is over $40.01 you keep 77%.
- If I don’t solve the student’s problem do I not get paid?
- Your video answer has to be technically competent in terms of your sport and technically competent in terms of video quality. YoorGooRoo is the final arbiter of all disputes. No exceptions.
- I don’t understand how some GooRoos can offer their services for free?
- These GooRoos are being paid by their sponsors to do videos. See our How to get a White-label site. If you work for a school, resort or shop , this could be good for them and you!
- How can I get my employers/sponsors involved?
- Show them our guide for organisations there are lots of things that we can do that will help you and them.
